Fly from RDU to Mexico City with a layover in Dallas (~1 hr)
Travel to Toluca in a minibus (~2 hrs)
Group meeting and dinner en route
Lodging at Fiesta Americana Hotel
Thursday, January 14
Early breakfast at our hotel
Travel to Mazahua and Macho de Agua Monarch Butterfly Reserve (~1 hr)
Morning butterfly observations and hike
Lunch at Casa de la Cultura at the Mazahua Community Center
Travel towards Monarch Sanctuary of El Rosario
Dinner and lodging at Hotel Cumbre Monarca
Group meeting
Friday, January 15
Early morning bird walk
Breakfast at our hotel
Travel to Chincua Monarch Butterfly Reserve (~ 1hr)
Horseback ride then walk to monarch roosting site
Monarch butterfly observation, journaling
Return horseback ride to bus
Lunch at the reserve headquarters and visit to community shops
Afternoon group activities and journaling
Dinner at our hotel

Lodging at Hotel Cumbre Monarca

Early morning bird walk

Travel to El Rosario Monarch Butterfly Reserve
Horseback ride then walk to monarch roosting site
Hike back from roosts to bus
